Canada adds three players to WNT camp

Canadian coach John Herdman has invited three additional players to the upcoming preparation camp in Vancouver, BC. Canada’s women’s national team will have less than a week together before traveling to Mexico to join Team Canada for the Pan American Games, Guadalajara, Mexico 2011.



The three invitations were accepted by Jaclyn Sawicki of the University of Victoria, Monica Lam-Feist of the University of Wisconsin, and Amélia Pietrangelo of Rutgers University. All three will briefly leave their school seasons to train with the national team.



Herdman’s 17 players join the full group of 493 Canadian athletes that will compete at this year’s Pan American Games. The competition serves as preparation for next year’s London 2012 Olympics. Canada won bronze at the last Pan American Games in July 2007.



2012 CONCACAF WOMEN’S OLYMPIC QUALIFYING

This coming year’s 2012 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying tournament will take place in Vancouver, BC from 19-29 January at BC Place Stadium. Canada and seven other CONCACAF nations will fight for two available tickets to the London 2012 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.
