Chapman makes 100th appearance for Canada

Chapman is ninth player to reach milestone.

Candace Chapman made her 100th career international appearance for Canada on Friday 27 January 2012. Chapman was part of coach John Herdman’s starting XI for the Canada-Mexico semi-final match at the 2012 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualifying tournament in Vancouver, BC. Chapman is the ninth player to reach the milestone.

Chapman is in her 11th season with the national team, having made her debut back on 1 March 2002 against Scotland. She was 18 years old at the time of her debut at that 2002 Algarve Women’s Cup competition. 

Chapman has represented Canada at two FIFA Women’s World Cup (China 2007 and Germany 2011), one Women’s Olympic Football Tournament (Beijing 2008), four CONCACAF qualification tournaments (2006, 2008, 2010, 2012), and two Pan American Games (bronze in 2007 and gold in 2011). She has also represented Canada at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup (silver medal at Canada 2002).

Chapman has been playing soccer since age seven when she started at Ajax United. She recently signed a contract with Sky Blue FC for the 2012 Women’s Professional Soccer season. She is a two-time WPS champion, having won titles with FC Gold Pride in 2010 and Western New York Flash in 2011.
