Jackson joins a club inaugurated by Alex Bunbury back on 15 November 1992. Bunbury scored three times in a 4:2 victory over Bermuda in Burnaby, BC. Like Jackson, Bunbury scored all three of his goals in the first half.
Bunbury is Canada’s all-time leader with 11 goals in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. He scored his 11 goals in 31 matches over three cycles of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers (1988 to 1997).
Jackson is taking part in his second cycle of FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. He already has four goals in three matches, all of which have been scored this year (he did not feature in 2008).
Bunbury, an honoured member of The Soccer Hall of Fame, was Canada’s Player of the Year in 1993 and 1995. He spent 11 seasons with the national team (16 goals in 64 matches). Jackson, only in his fourth season with the national team, has scored six goals in 22 matches. He won Canadian Player of the Year honours in 2009.
