THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 27 February 2000
Canada wins the 2000 CONCACAF Gold Cup with a 2:0 victory over Colombia. Jason de Vos and Carlo Corazzin score the goals while Craig Forrest provides the clean sheet. It marks Canada’s second CONCACAF championship. It also marks Canada’s third victory against a South American nation at the international “A” level.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 27 February 2010
Canada wins 1:0 over England at the 2010 Cyprus Women’s Cup in Larnaka. The victory avenges a 1:3 loss to England one year earlier in the 2009 Cyprus Women’s Cup final. (Canada goes on to win the 2010 Cyprus Women’s Cup, its second tournament victory in three years). Rhian Wilkinson becomes the 12th player to make her 75th appearance for Canada.

Canada wins a silver medal at the 2011 CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship, falling 0:3 after extra time to USA. American defender Nathan Smith scores the winning goal – a wonder goal from distance – in the 92nd minute.

Canada wins 3:0 over Scotland at the 2002 Algarve Women’s Cup. Sasha Andrews, Melanie Booth, Candace Chapman and Kara Lang all make their debuts for Canada.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 1 March 2004
Canada wins 2:1 over Costa Rica in its final group match at the 2004 CONCACAF Women’s Olympic Qualiyfing tournament in Herédia, Costa Rica. Randee Hermus becomes the 10th player to make her 50th appearance for Canada.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 1 March 2005
Canada wins 4:1 over Mexico in its first match of the Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifiers. Jocelyn Roy, Stéphane Boisvert, Tony Menezes and Jérome Gosselin score for Canada.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 1 March 2006
Canada wins 2:0 over Austria in an away Men’s International Friendly match in Vienna. Jim Brennan and Marco Reda score for Canada while Kenny Stamatopoulos posts the clean sheet.
Canada wins 1:0 over Netherlands in a Women’s International Friendly match at Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver. Andrea Neil scores the lone goal of the match. Charmaine Hooper becomes the first player to make her 125th appearance for Canada.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 2 March 1997
Canada falls 0:4 to Mexico in an away FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match in Ciudad Mexico. Until Mexico scores in the 50th minute, Canada extends its FIFA World Cup Qualifiers clean sheet record to 541 minutes.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 3 March 2002
Kara Lang, in just her second match at age 15, scores her first two goals for Canada. Canada wins 4:0 over Wales at the 2002 Algarve Women’s Cup. Erin McLeod makes her debut for Canada and posts the clean sheet.
THIS DAY IN FOOTBALL: 3 March 2010
Canada wins 1:0 over New Zealand to capture the 2010 Cyprus Women’s Cup. Diana Matheson scores the lone goal while Karina LeBlanc posts the clean sheet. LeBlanc becomes the 13th player (and first goalkeeper) to make her 75th appearance for Canada. LeBlanc is also the first goalkeeper to reach the milestone.
