as noted in 1919 in the Montreal Gazette, Smith “was the outstanding star of the (second and final) game” of the Connaught Cup Series final... as noted in 1921 in the Winnipeg Tribune, he was “built on the greyhound type and is a wonderful dribbler of the ball as well as a sure goal shot”... as noted in 1922 in the Toronto Telegram, he was a “tricky Guards outside left (who) said to be one of the best in Canada”...
was part of the 1921 All-Canada XI that faced the touring Scottish Star Footballers in an international match on 9 July in Montréal (an 0:1 loss at Alexandra Park)... was part of the 1925 Canadian XI that faced USA in a Men’s International Friendly match in Montréal (a 1:0 win on 27 June 1925)...
