Samuel Davidson... he was 30 years old when he enlisted for the Canadian Over-Seas Expeditionary Force on 22 February 1916 in Winnipeg, MB (184th Overseas Battalion)... served in the Great War with the 27th Battalion (City of Winnipeg) in the Canadian infantry... he was promoted to sargeant before his return home from the Great War... served in World War II with the Canadian army... he was 80 years old when he passed away in Winnipeg, MB on 4 November 1965... wrote footballer Dave Turner, Davidson had “charm plus brains”... in 2000, was one of two former Canadian Soccer Association general secretaries included in the inaugural class honoured by The Soccer Hall of Fame in Canada (George Anderson and Sam Davidson)...

honoured as a Canada Soccer Life Member... posthumously honoured by the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame (one of the first 11 non-players honoured as part of The Soccer Hall of Fame’s inaugural Class of 2000)... posthumously honoured by the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame...
